Veteran Nollywood actor, Steve Eboh, has been inaugurated as Chairman of the seven-member Actors Guild of Nigeria’s National Electoral Committee (AGNEC), during a press conference held on Thursday at the guild’s national secretariat in Abuja, ahead of the guild’s upcoming national elections.
The committee comprises Blessing Edward as Secretary, and Sandra Okereke, Usman Galadima, Kemi Adekomi, Leo Ewuzie, and Elizabeth Ofuani as members.
In his acceptance speech, Eboh, popularly known as Ajebo, pledged the committee’s commitment to ensuring a transparent and credible election process for the guild.
“I accept the position of National Chairman of AGNEC, and on behalf of the committee, I will say we are going to do our best for the guild.
“We will ensure that the coming election not only continues the unity we are enjoying under this administration but also sustains its legacy.
“We will make sure that this election is free, fair, just, and acceptable to everybody. After this election, AGN will be more united than ever,” he said.
Eboh, a former Vice President and former Chairman of the AGN National Caretaker Committee, has a reputation for conducting dispute-free elections for the guild.
In 2019, he chaired AGNEC during the guild’s election held in Uyo and served in the same capacity in 2022 when elections were held in Benin City.
Earlier, Dr Emeka Rollas, AGN National President, charged the committee to ensure transparency and fairness in electing new leaders for the guild.

The AGN helmsman, who is serving his final tenure, said members of the AGNEC were drawn from different parts of the country and were constituted after due ratification by the guild’s Board of Trustees.
“It is my honour to announce the constitution of the AGN National Electoral Committee (AGNEC), tasked with conducting the next national election.
“I charge the committee to discharge this duty with absolute impartiality, diligence, and integrity, as the credibility of this election and the trust of our members rest in your hands.
“Let this election be remembered as one that preserved unity and set a high standard for democratic governance in the guild,” he said.
“As many of you know, I am approaching the end of my tenure as National President of this noble guild.
“When I assumed office over seven years ago, I made a solemn promise to lead with integrity, serve with purpose, and contribute meaningfully to the growth and vision of the AGN.
“Today, I proudly look back at our collective achievements made possible through the dedication of a committed team, unwavering stakeholders, and our resilient membership.”
