The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Adamawa State, Sulaiman Gangkuba, says supporters of the State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, will swell the membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to one million within the next 10 days.
Gangkuba said this shortly after an expanded stakeholders’ meeting involving legacy and incoming members of the party held in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.
He told news men that mass registration exercise had already commenced and would run for 10 days across the state.
“We’re targeting about a million members to be registered. As I speak to you now, registration has commenced this morning, and it’s going to last for 10 days. I’m 100 percent sure that we’ll get the required number that will surpass what has been done,” he stated.

Before now, the APC in Adamawa had enlisted over 450,000 members during its last e-registration exercise, however, Gangkuba expressed confidence that the influx of supporters loyal to the governor’s bloc would more than double that figure within days.
He explained that the decision to align with the ruling party at the federal level followed extensive consultations with grassroots supporters across the state.
“Before we aligned with the ruling party, we had wider consultations. We sat with our supporters and met with our people at the grassroots, and they’ve given us assurance that wherever we go, they will follow us,” he said.
According to him, the realignment was informed by the belief that being in the same political party as the federal government would attract more developmental projects and programmes to Adamawa State.
“With this action, there will be more developmental projects coming to the state, unlike when you are in the opposition. Now that we are in the same party, this realignment is for the betterment of our state,” he added.
Addressing concerns about joining an established political structure, Gangkuba emphasised that politics is fundamentally about numbers, noting that his group commands significant grassroots support.
“As you know, the voters in Adamawa State are more than one million. We were in the PDP before, and we have a lot of supporters at the grassroots. I’m assuring you that they are ready and willing to register into the APC,” he said.
