The Chairperson of Fufore Local Government Council in Adamawa state, Peace Audu, has begun the distribution of relief materials to communities affected by recent floods.
The initiative is to cushion the impact of the 2025 flood that destroyed farmlands and properties worth millions of Naira.
Audu expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his support, noting that the relief items were provided by the State Government through the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA).
“We are grateful to our governor and father, Ahmadu Fintiri, for his continued support to the people of Fufore. Thank you for making it a priority to assist flood victims in Fufore and other LGAs in the state,” she said.
Commiserating with affected victims, the Chairperson warned residents against erecting structures on waterways and indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainages.
She also advised those living in flood-prone areas to relocate to higher grounds for safety.
Some beneficiaries who spoke to Voice of Nigeria expressed appreciation to the state for the intervention and the timely distribution of the items, describing it as a demonstration of commitment to the welfare of the people.
Communities affected by the flood in Fufore include Ribadu, Gurin, Mayoine, Beti, and Wurobokki.
