Adamawa State Executive Council approves funds for development projects

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved several multi-billion naira projects aimed at urban and rural renewal initiatives in Yola, the state capital and selected Local Government Areas, LGA, in the state.

The projects include; an underpass and expansion of Galadima Aminu Way in the state capital at a cost of N13.8 billion, a 7.5km in Michika LGA at a cost of N2.5 billion, a 14km road in Madagali LGA at a cost of N2.5 billion.

Others are electrification and potable water supply to the Fintiri 1000 housing estate in Yola South LGA at a cost of N832 million and N854 million respectively as well as Construction of new science and technical colleges in each of the three senatorial zones at a total cost of N17.1 billion.

The State Government also approved external funding of N630 million for thematic SDGs areas, focusing on poverty, zero hunger, and clean water and sanitation.

Also, the state government has approved the payment of N70,000 minimum wage with consequential adjustments for civil servants in Adamawa State, effective from August.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, who announced these projects after the state EXCO’s weekly meeting, chaired by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri said the approved projects are expected to enhance the state’s infrastructure, improve the living conditions of the citizens, and boost economic development.

Governor Fintiri’s administration has prioritized infrastructure development, education, and human capital development as key areas of focus.
