Adamawa State Governor Congratulates First Female Navy Admiral

Adamawa State Governor, Umaru Fintiri has congratulated Jamila Malafa on her promotion to the rank of Rear Admiral, in the Nigerian Navy.

She is the first in the entire Northern region to be promoted by the Nigerian Navy in that rank.

Admiral Jamila who hails from Gombi Local Government Area was officially decorated in Abuja by the Chief of Naval Staff.

Governor Fintiri noted that Admiral Jamila over the years had proved her mettle in the profession, adding that her recent elevation was deserving and an inspiration to other women striving to make a name in the profession.

“I have no doubt in my mind that the cap fits this Adamawa born strong woman, Rear Admiral Jamila. She has a proven track record of excellence in the Navy, which has seen her rise through the ranks to the pinnacle of the profession,” the Governor said.

He urged the first high ranking officer from the State to bring her wealth of experience to bear, not only in advancing the course of the Navy, but also the Nigerian Military and the State.

“I urge you to see your promotion as one that comes at a time in our national life where we need the Military to be more circumspect and developmental in playing its role as the defender of the State and its interests in a democracy,” he added.

The Governor also encouraged the Admiral to continue to represent Adamawa State well and wished her a successful career in the Navy.
