Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Professor Jibrin Aminu, a revered elder statesman and one of Nigeria’s most distinguished public servants.
Professor Aminu passed away at the age of 85, leaving behind a rich legacy of intellectual, political, and diplomatic achievements.
In a heartfelt tribute, Governor Fintiri described the late professor as “a towering figure in Nigeria’s intellectual and political landscape,” noting that his death marks a monumental loss not just for Adamawa State but for the entire nation.
“Nigeria has lost one of its finest minds, a devoted public servant and a distinguished son of Adamawa. Professor Jibrin Aminu was a rare breed of patriot and a silent reformer whose legacy spans education, diplomacy, and politics,” Governor Fintiri said.
Professor Aminu held several key national positions during his lifetime, including Minister of Education, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, and Senator representing Adamawa Central.
Throughout these roles, he was widely respected for his integrity, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to national development.
“His life’s work is an enduring gift to the nation, and his humility and wisdom will be sorely missed,” the Governor added.
Governor Fintiri offered prayers for the repose of Professor Aminu’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
He also extended his condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and all Nigerians who were inspired by the professor’s life and service.
Professor Jibrin Aminu’s passing marks the end of an era, but his contributions to Nigeria’s progress will continue to resonate across time and generations, with his legacy remaining as a guiding light for generations to come.
