Adamawa State Governor Reaffirms Commitment To Free Education

The Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri has urged parents and guardians in the state to take advantage of the free education system in the state to enroll their children in public schools.

During inauguration of scholarship scheme programme and empowerment project in Song Local Government area of the State, Governor Fintiri reiterated his commitment to providing free and quality education.

The state government over the years has been running a free education system in its public schools.

Every year, the Governor, AmaduFintiri takes off the shoulder of parent payment the fee for all the students who are qualified to sit for the West African Examinations Council and National Examination Council fee.

Governor Fintiri during inauguration of scholarship scheme for 40 students admitted into Nigerian Government colleges and empowerment project for 360  elders, youths and women sponsored by Song local government area of the state, appealed to parents to embrace the free education available in public schools to get children enrolled for them to acquire formal education.

The State Deputy Governor, who represented the Governor at the ceremony, stated that children, especially the girl child, should be allowed to complete school before getting married.

The Governor said; “Government is determined to ensure that no child in Adamawa state is deprived of education at all levels. Who knows, the governor of the state may emerge from this community in the future.

“The state has made significant improvements in public schools, in the area of equipment, construction of classrooms, laboratories, books, free mobility and free feeding to make teaching and learning easier.’’

The Governor encouraged the pupils to work hard in life, stressing that any person who aspires for elective position, must acquire western education and criteria.

In her words, she said “We thank God and Governor Fintiri, today we have a female as Deputy Governor and females as Vice Chairmen across the 21 LGAs in the State.’’

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Council, Idris Yahaya further called on parents to register their children at nearby public schools and to actively monitor their children’s academic and moral development.

Yahaya promised to continue to support education through expansion of the educational initiative of the council.

The beneficiaries appreciated the government for the gesture and for establishing a modern school for them.
