Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has reaffirmed his commitment to providing world-class training opportunities for youth, civil servants, and entrepreneurs to enhance competitiveness in the global digital economy.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of 50 youths trained in digital skills in Yola on Thursday, Fintiri, represented by his Special Adviser on ICT and e-Economy, Hammanjam Adamu, highlighted the state’s dedication to youth empowerment and job creation.

“We have embarked on an ambitious journey to position Adamawa State as a digital hub, fostering innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship,” he stated.

The governor emphasised that the state government remains committed to supporting young people with initiatives such as the ICT Technical Talent Programme, which aims to train 100,000 youths in various technical and digital skills over the coming years.

Each of the 50 graduates received a starter pack to help them kick-start their careers. Fintiri encouraged them to apply their newly acquired skills, remain connected, and continue learning to achieve greater success.

Hammanjumba Gatugel, Commissioner for Entrepreneurship Development, noted that participants were drawn from all 21 Local Government Areas and underwent intensive training in Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, Website Development, and Modern Workplace Digital Communication.

“The training has equipped beneficiaries with digital skills that will enable them to compete globally and make informed decisions in the digital world,” he said.

He added that the programme would improve their employability and open up opportunities in industries such as media, advertising, marketing, and design. He also cautioned beneficiaries against selling their starter kits, as doing so would undermine the purpose of the initiative.

Arabo Ishaq, Chief Executive Officer of Datarose, represented by resource person Abdulmalik Adamu, commended the Adamawa government for providing such an opportunity.

“We now have beneficiaries who can develop websites and apply various digital skills effectively. One of them even designed his own wedding invitation using the skills acquired during the training,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Iya Bamalam expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to put their skills to productive use.
