A former broadcaster from Silver Bird television, Thomas Edet has promised to empower young people of Akpabuyo, Bakassi, and Calabar South Federal Constituency in Cross River State, South-south Nigeria.

Edet is the African Democratic Congress, ADC, flag-bearer for the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

He said that he was prepared to give the people, especially the youths effective representation.

The ADC candidate noted that while previous lawmakers considered attending child dedication ceremonies and condolence visits as service to their constituents, he would give the people a sense of belonging.

He said; “I will ensure that young people in my constituency have federal jobs through due process. The people deserve more than payment of condolence visit. I will assist many overcome their challenges, to have a sense of belonging because I have been there.

“My supporters know me that I am not the type, who sell my mandate and conscience out easily. The fellow, who has been representing us by next year would have been 24 years in that office.

“I do not have any political Godfather and will pursue a campaign-based issue. Let me urge all the youths to rally around all those who matter. By God’s grace, we will all get to the promised land. I am not practicing a war chest.”
