In a move to enhance grassroots politics, voter education, and mobilisation across constituencies in Nigeria, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally inaugurated the ADC Independent Campaign Council (AICC) in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Members of the AICC State Executive Committee, while taking the oath of allegiance, were charged with remaining humble and committed to grassroots mobilisation across all local governments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In his remarks, the AICC National Coordinator, Chief Jaja Abiam, represented by the Federal Capital Territory Coordinator, Mrs Agnes Onoshialeme, said the newly inaugurated state executive committees are not merely administrative bodies but engines of change.

According to him, they are the torchbearers of the party’s vision and the custodians of the collective aspirations of Nigerians who are yearning for good governance.

“As we embark on this journey, we recognise the immense responsibility that rests on our shoulders. We are not just building a support group for the African Democratic Congress (ADC); we’re building a movement that will present a strong, legitimate platform to challenge the current leadership and usher in a new order of good governance in Nigeria.

“This new order seeks to empower the marginalised, uplift the underprivileged, and create opportunities for all citizens.”

He further urged members to mobilise support, develop viable campaign strategies, and deliver results by ensuring the party’s message resonates across their states and, by extension, the entire nation.

“As the trusted leadership of the AICC in the various states, you are the bridge between our party and the people,” he added.

Also speaking, the North Central Zonal Coordinator of the AICC, Hon. Ben, represented by the North Central Secretary, Ambassador Collins Obinna, charged the Federal Capital Territory Executive Committee members to work in synergy to achieve success.

He described the AICC as a group committed to promoting responsible leadership and rejecting bad governance across the 36 states of the federation, including the FCT.

“As the 2027 general elections approach, members of the AICC are calling on Nigerians to join this movement as we work together to ensure that the country gets it right in the forthcoming elections. A new Nigeria is possible,” he said.

He encouraged members to take pride in their identity and continue spreading the message of the movement.

“Let us be proud of who we are. As we move forward, let us tell our friends and families about the vision of our principal and the work being done to build a better Nigeria. Long live the AICC, long live the North Central Zone, and long live Nigeria,” he added.
