ADC presidential aspirant promises Nigerians a new constitution

A cleric and presidential aspirant, Dr Favour Ayodele has promised Nigerians a brand new constitution if given a chance to rule the country.

Ayodele who made the remark while declaring his aspiration to govern the country on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at a press conference in Ikeja, Lagos said all the woes bedevilling the country today suggest that it is in dire need of a new constitution to provide a new template for governance.

He said over the years the country has relied on leaders who are unwilling to take decisive action to bail the country out. He said: “We can’t leave Nigeria in the mud of tribalistic web against our collective intelligence; neither should we place this country in the hands of ‘polithieficians’ with entitlement agenda.”

The ADC presidential hopeful said his mission is to instil fundamental values and create an enabling environment for people-oriented policies, good leadership and an economic paradigm shift that would restore the dignity of Nigeria and Nigerians.

Ayodele has promised to enthrone functional institutions and improve productivity, transparent working system with solution-driven institutions and investment in education, primary healthcare, transportation, tourism, security, and housing among others.

He deplored the prevailing level of insecurity in the country, adding that there is a need to rejig the country’s security apparatus and bring in more men to police the country.

Dr Ayodele also spoke of the need to reduce the country’s dependence on crude-oil export by exploring renewable green energy innovations with technology.

He also decried incessant strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), saying, “ASUU strike is an entrenched disease that must not stay any longer”.

He added: “We will engage in intentional investment in our educational sector as one of our top priorities and create the value-based cultural programme across the country. We will also be deliberate in taking the 20 million Nigerian out of school children from the street and offer them free quality education.

“Our teachers will enjoy attractive enumeration, insurance policy, professional training and a conducive environment. We will launch free quality education from primary to secondary school, while our tertiary institutions go for study and work programmes with relevant benefits.”
