The Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu says adequate planning and cooperation are required to tackle insecurity.

Governor Bagudu stated this while addressing new Chairmen, Vice-Chairmen and Councillors of two local governments areas over security challenges of the State.

“Security is everyone responsibility, therefore politicizing it was a great danger.

“Security issues will not be politicized or be given undue publicity. Security challenges in Kebbi State are spillovers from our neighbour, Zamfara State and everything is being done to redress the obnoxious trend.

“In fact, President Muhammadu Buhari had supported us, he has recently given approval to us to take more proactive measures and we have done so,” Bagaudu stated.

In a statement by Bagudu’s Special Adviser on Media, Yahaya Sarki, the Governor also urged the people of the state to shun rumour mongering, as well as spreading fake news which according to him was detrimental to the peace and security of the society.

According to him, fake news does nobody any good, but causes disharmony, as well as aggravate the already disturbing security situation in the country.

Bagudu further appealed to the people of the state to continue to appreciate the laudable efforts of the military and the various security agencies to combat insecurity.

He also called on them to always offer credible intelligence to the security agencies, with a view to nipping crimes and criminality in the bud.

Bagudu, who again congratulated the newly elected officials admonished them to uphold their oaths of office and run open administrations.

“You should hold monthly allocation meetings, provide the needs and aspirations of the electorate and offer assistance in accordance with the laws.

“You should also run all-inclusive governments and always remember that you were elected not because you are better than anybody, but by divine Providence.

“More women should be assisted and there are a lot of formidable challenges at the family levels, with women bearing the brunts,” the Governor added.

He further advised them to listen to the yearnings of their people particularly the less privileged in the society.

Bagudu calls for understanding and cooperation from elected local Government officials as well as joining hands to deliver the dividends of democracy provided by the APC led Government.

The Governor also expressed delight with the emergence of 16 women Councilors elected across the state.

On their remarks, the APC Chairman of Zuru Local Government, Abubakar Aliyu and the State House of Assembly member representing Danko Wasagu, Hon. Hamza Haliru while thanking the governor for the visit assured him of the total support and loyalty of politicians in the area.

The State House of Assembly member representing Danko Wasagu, Hamza Haliru particularly appreciated what he described as the concerted effort of governor Bagudu to surmount the security challenge in the area.

He appealed to politicians and mischief-makers to join hands with Government to tackle insecurity.
