ADP, AA Condemn Edo State killings
The Action Democratic Party (ADP) and Action Alliance (AA) have condemned the murder of travelling hunters intercepted by local vigilantes in Uromi, Esan-North Local Government of Edo State.
In separate statements on Saturday in Abuja, both parties described the attack as dastardly, unwarranted, and deeply troubling.
ADP’s National Chairman, Mr Yabagi Sani expressed deep sorrow over the tragic and senseless killings. He called for the immediate arrest of those responsible for the crime.
“The victims were brutally attacked on the highway in broad daylight, mercilessly hacked down, and burned alive without having committed any offence.
“This incident leaves a disturbing mark of jungle justice and highlights the alarming insecurity threatening our collective existence,” he said.
Yabagi urged the Edo government and security agencies to take swift, decisive action to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face justice.
Mr James Vernimbe, AA National Secretary, said the act posed a serious threat to travellers across the country, demanding urgent intervention.
He stressed the need for stiffer punishments to deter jungle justice and ensure such incidents do not recur.
Vernimbe commended the Edo government for its swift intervention in preventing further escalation of the crisis.
He commiserated with the families of the victims and urged authorities to ensure a thorough manhunt and prosecution of those involved.
He also cautioned Nigerians against jungle justice, insisting that alleged suspects should always be handed over to the appropriate authorities.
