A conglomerate of Agric Startups, Adun Initiatives has forged partnership with the Ilorin East Local Government to establish a 400-hectare integrated farm through a strategic joint venture.

The move according to them is aimed at bolstering food security, empowering youth, and driving sustainable community development.

Speaking during the official engagement held at the Local Government Secretariat in Okeoyi, the Chairman Ilorin East Local Government, Hon. Lukman Garba lauded the initiative as timely and impactful, expressing strong support for the collaboration and commitment to ensuring its success.

Garba noted that the idea is one of the ways to ensure food sustainability and security in Kwara State and Nigeria as a whole and government at the grassroot will continue to work with individuals and groups with such intuitive ideas, towards environmental preservation.

The Chairman said that the partnership between Adun Initiatives and Ilorin East Local Government activates a precedent for public-private collaboration in agriculture and sustainable development.

Transforming Agriculture

The Adun Initiatives delegation, led by Dr. Bola Yusuf and accompanied by the co-founder Tajudeen Olaribigbe and other team members,
explained that the integrated farm project is poised to transform Ilorin East into a model of sustainable agricultural development, with a focus on organic farming, modern agricultural techniques, youth capacity building, women-in-agriculture and community development.

According to Adun Initiatives, the project will be rolled out in phases, beginning with land preparation and infrastructure development. The farm will feature diversified crop cultivation, livestock production, aquaculture, and renewable energy integration to promote environmentally responsible farming practices.

Substantial outcomes:

Yusuf said the initiative will boost local food production and reduce reliance on external supply chains, train and employ local youth in areas such as modern farming, agribusiness, and post-harvest value addition.

Other benefits include stimulating economic activity by engaging local businesses and service providers, promote environmental stewardship through organic fertilizer use, waste recycling, and water conservation technologies and largely position Ilorin East as a pilot location for replicable, scalable models of integrated farming across Nigeria.

Looking Ahead

Adun Initiatives emphasized that continuous monitoring, evaluation, and stakeholder engagement will be integral to the project’s sustainability and success. With strong political will, community involvement, and strategic execution, the integrated farm promises to be a catalyst for food sufficiency, economic revival, and environmental resilience in Kwara State and beyond.
