Advanced Sports Management Course To Be Held At UNILAG

The 6th and concluding edition of the Advanced Sports Management Course (ASMC) will hold from May 30th – 2nd June,2023, at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Guest House in Akoka, Lagos State.

The ASMC is an initiative of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), through Olympic Solidarity and the National Olympic Committees.

The course content is drawn from the book ‘Managing Olympic Sport Organisation’s Manual’, which comprised six chapters and requires a minimum of 9 residential (contact days and at least 6 distant-self-learning) and the course to be conducted over a maximum of 12 Months.

A statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Tony Nezianya, said the first module of the programme was held between May 10th -12th, 2023, at the National Institute of Power Training in Masha, Surulere, Lagos State.

The targeted participants were stakeholders – State Sports Councils, tertiary Institutions, para-military organisations and the media. The maiden session was declared open by the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Habu Ahmed Gumel, in 2022 in Lagos.

Nonetheless, participants are expected to arrive in Lagos on May 30th and depart on June 3rd, 2023.

Two certified IOC Course Directors Prof. Fasan Clement of Unilag and Dr Jonathan Dyagas, the Finance Director of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), will facilitate the programme they will assisted by Dr Muyiwa Adeyeye also of UNILAG.

The participants would be presented certificates at the end the programme.
