AFCON: Kelechi Nwakali targets history with Eagles
Huesca midfielder Kelechi Nwakali hopes to join the eminent class of Nigerian footballers who have won the AFCON.
Nwakali has made two substitute appearances at the tournament, playing 35 minutes so far at the tournament.
Nwakali, a late inclusion in the Eagles final squad, said; ”I am hopeful of making history in Cameroon.
“My target is to win the competition and be among Nigerian players who have won the trophy.”
“It’s good to be back in the Eagles. I’m happy to be here with the team and playing a part to see we have qualified for the next round.
“It has been good so far for the team but I hope to play in the next game. The coach has faith in me and I’m eager to show him how well I can help the team. I want to let him know he can trust me when the going gets tough,” he stated.

On the chances of the team, the former Arsenal player said, “The mindset we have in camp is to win the competition and as we progress we have all resolved to keep doing our best to help the team.”
