The Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has said it will select athletes for the 2016 World Junior Athletics Championships during the D.K. Olukoya Youth and Junior Championships in Lagos.
The competition holds on Wednesday at the Sports Complex of the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos. The IAAF World Juniors will hold in Bydgoszcz, Poland from July 19 to 24.
Spokesman for the AFN, Kayode Thomas said in a statement, “The championships will be used to select athletes that will represent Nigeria at the IAAF World Junior Championships.”
Nigeria is expected to compete in the sprints and field events.
At the 2014 World Juniors in Eugene, USA, Nigeria finished 29th alongside Belarus, Djibouti, Slovenia and Spain with one silver medal. The medal was won by Divine Oduduru in the 200m with a time of 20.25secs.
