The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) has signed an indicative term sheet with the Government of Gabon and GSEZ Airport SA, a subsidiary of Gabon Special Economic Zone (GSEZ), for the development of a new international airport in Libreville, Gabon’s capital.

The EUR 290 million facility—structured in Euro and CFA Franc—includes EUR 100 million from Afreximbank and EUR 190 million in XAF equivalent from BGFI Bank Gabon and AFG Bank Cameroon.
The airport will handle 2 million passengers annually, 25,000 tonnes of freight, and feature 22,500 m² of terminal space.

This investment supports infrastructure development, regional trade, tourism, and the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) within the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC).
