Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has been awarded the prestigious title of Governor of the Year in Infrastructure Development at the 15th African Achievers Award, held at the historic Westminster Palace, House of Lords, London.
The award, presented by the Deputy Mayor of London, Mete Coban, recognises Governor Yusuf’s transformative projects aimed at modernising Kano State through large-scale road construction, urban renewal programs, and the rehabilitation of critical public facilities.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, the award is a testament to the Governor’s commitment to delivering inclusive development.
Representing the Governor at the ceremony were Usman Bala, Special Adviser on State Affairs, and Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano.
Bala expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the Governor, stating, “This recognition underscores Governor Yusuf’s dedication to prioritising infrastructure that touches the lives of millions across Kano.”
The African Achievers Award celebrates African leaders and institutions making a measurable impact. This year’s edition recognised diverse leadership excellence, including the Governor of Benue State and the King of the Zulu nation of South Africa.
Governor Yusuf’s recognition highlights his achievements on the global stage and reaffirms Kano State’s emergence as a model for infrastructure-driven governance in Nigeria.
