World Record holder Tobi Amusan, fresh off retaining her national title, will lead the Nigerian contingent to the African Athletics Championships in Douala, Cameroon.

The event kicks off on Thursday and serves as a crucial stepping stone for athletes aiming to compete at the Paris Olympics later this summer.

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has selected a strong team with the goal of topping the medals table.

“We are Nigerians, and we are going to Douala to show that spirit of ‘we can do it,” said current world record holder in the Women’s 100m hurdles, Amusan, while speaking with AFN Media after retaining her national title, emphasising the team’s determination.
