African Games Men’s Football Ready For Kick-Off

The football edition of the 13th African Games, Accra 2023 is set to kick off on Thursday, 07 March with eight (8) nations ready to do battle at the continental multi-coded sporting showpiece.

Dating back to 1965 when Congo hosted the maiden edition, the African Games (formerly All African Games) has grown into a giant continental multi-sport competition of repute.

Over the past years that it’s been running, it has become another symbol of Africa’s unique place in sports, particularly football.

The 13th edition of the continental competition will take place in Accra between 07 – 23 March.

Eight nations in the Men’s division including hosts Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, The Gambia, Congo, Uganda, South Sudan and Benin will take each other to be crowned champions of the competition.

Meanwhile Nigeria will be Facing Uganda by 8 : 00 at Accra Sports Stadium.

The men’s football competition kicks off on Thursday, 07 March, a day earlier than the opening ceremony with South Sudan coming up against Senegal in the first match of the day, while Nigeria will take on Uganda in the second game.

On Friday, 08 March, Ghana’s Black Satellites will test their might against Congo with The Gambia playing Benin in the second game of the day at 20:00 GMT.

All Day 1 and 2 matches will be played at the country’s national stadium, Accra Sports Stadium.

Thursday’s much-anticipated kick off in the men’s competition will come a little over a month after the draw for the football competition was held on the sidelines of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023.

The final of the men’s football competition will be played on Friday, 22 March at the Accra Sports Stadium.
