The Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein, has reiterated her commitment to promoting professional accounting principles in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
She pledged to support the Institute by upholding integrity, transparency, and a zero-tolerance policy for corruption across both the private and public sectors.
Madein disclosed this while playing a host to the 60th President of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Dr Davidson Alaribe and his team in her office in Abuja
She revealed that Office of Accountant General of the Federation played a lead role in upholding Accounting profession stating that about 70% of its workers are Accountants.
Dr Oluwatoyin reiterated that her office will continue to partner with ICAN with a view to show robust and transparent accounting concepts since the mandates of ICAN and OAGF are common in status.
“I will maintain integrity , ethics and core values of the Accounting profession as well as to welcome all criticisms and recognition in the accounting practices,” Madein disclosed.
The 60th President of ICAN and Current President of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria Dr.Davidson C.S Alaribe in his earlier address stated that their mission for the courtesy call is to appreciate the AGF of her Motherly role and support that she extended to the Institute during the last ICAN Conference.
He acknowledged the pivotal role the Accountant General of the Federation is playing towards shaping the accounting profession particularly the reactivation of Federal Treasury Academy in Orozo, Abuja.
Davidson revealed that ICAN has been into rendering assistance to Accountants with the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira only (N500,000) as scholarship to those that are ready to acquired more Accounting profession to PHD Level.
