The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has suspended Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar after a two-year investigation revealed her role in disseminating defamatory information about her colleagues in the industry.
The well-known actress has reportedly been responsible for spreading false and misleading information about her colleagues and other notable figures.
In an official statement posted on the Guild’s Instagram page on Friday, October 18, 2024, the AGN announced its decision following a two-year covert investigation that revealed Halima Abubakar’s involvement in leaking scandalous extramarital and infidelity rumors about fellow actors.

“After a thorough investigative report from the Special Secret Investigation Panel established to conduct this internal inquiry, the Panel concluded that Miss Halima Abubakar was behind all the defamatory information,” the statement said.
As a result, the actress has been suspended indefinitely and is prohibited from participating in any AGN activities or filming during this time. The Guild also stated that she will be required to appear before the National Disciplinary Committee to determine her full punishment.
Additionally, the AGN has cautioned Halima Abubakar against violating the suspension rules, as it may lead to further disciplinary action.
“She will face the National Disciplinary Committee to determine her full punishment,” the statement added. The Guild has also added that there are some other female members who are presently being investigated in connection with similar allegations.
