Agric Ministry,Agency Join Forces to Boost Food Production
The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS) has teamed up with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) to form a committee aimed at accelerating the adoption of cutting-edge technologies in the agriculture sector.
This collaboration, recently inaugurated at the ministry’s conference room, aims to enhance local food production and export.
Speaking during the inauguration, Mr. Temitope Fashedemi, the permanent secretary of FMAFS, emphasized the timeliness of this partnership, highlighting the pivotal role of innovation and technology in achieving food security, job creation, and industrialization.
The technical committee, composed of directors from various FMAFS departments and the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, will assess existing programs and projects, focusing on collaboration areas specified by NASENI, such as technology transfer and the Rice Storage Project.
The collaboration signifies a strategic effort to revolutionize agricultural practices for sustainability, efficiency, and productivity in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s eight-point agenda.
Responding to this, the director federal department of agriculture in the ministry, Engr. Garba Abdullahi pledged the committee’s dedication to achieving its mandate.
He expressed the committee’s commitment to leveraging innovation to redefine and position the agricultural sector in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s eight-point agenda.
Furthermore he noted that the collaboration between FMAFS and NASENI signifies a strategic effort to usher in a new era of agricultural practices, fostering sustainability, efficiency and productivity.
“As the committee embarks on its mission, the partnership holds the potential to revolutionize the agricultural landscape and contribute significantly to the nation’s economic development.”
