Agricultural Company Advocates For Women Inclusion In Agriculture In Nigeria

An Agricultural company, Value Seed Limited is advocating for women inclusion in agriculture in Nigeria to improve productivity and value.

The President of the company, Sir George Zangir made this known to newsmen shortly after delivering his address at the AGRA gender consortium stakeholders meeting in Kaduna state.

Zangir called on the women farmers to harness the opportunities in the industry for positive impact on the society.

“Today’s meeting is the first in 2023 and it is significant for us to look forward to discussing the progress, lessons learnt and opportunities that lies ahead as we strive to improve the livelihood of women in agriculture”.

According to him, the gender consortium programme which kick started in 2022 will last to 2024, a period of three years, aiming at improving primary production and encouraging women farmers in the country.

Also, the Project Lead of the company, Idoko Gabriel Samson explained that the AGRA Gender consortium project is running concurrently in two states of the federation, Niger and Kaduna state respectively.

When asked on the choice of Niger and Kaduna state, he explained that the chosen states became attractive for the project due to their poverty rate and population, hence the need to improve the livelihood of women farmers for the benefit of the society.

Samson added that reasonable number of women were targeted for the AGRA gender consortium project in the two mentioned states.
