Ahmed Musa Absent as Eguavoen Names Super Eagles Squad
Ahmed Musa is notably absent from Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen’s 35-man Super Eagles B squad for the 2025 African Nations Championship qualification match against Ghana.
Musa, who recently returned to the Nigeria Premier Football League and has been performing well with his boyhood club, Kano Pillars, was expected by some to make the list.
Eguavoen has included Remo Stars’ wing-back Ismail Sadiq, Kano Pillars’ forward Zikifilu Rabiu, and Enugu Rangers’ midfielder Kazeem Ogunleye.
The first leg of this tie, echoing the previous qualification series where Ghana advanced on penalties, is scheduled for the weekend of December 20–22, with the second leg a week later.
The winner over both legs will secure a spot in the 8th edition of the African Nations Championship, exclusively for players in their home country’s league, taking place in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from February 1 to 28, 2025.
Also called to camp are Akwa United’s Wisdom Ndom, Enugu Rangers’ Saviour Isaac, Anas Yusuf of Nasarawa United, and Abba Maigari from El-Kanemi Warriors, with camp opening in Abuja on Tuesday, October 29.
