The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has planned to deploy additional troops to the multinational Joint Task Force for mop-up military operations in the north-east, especially Borno State.

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar said the plan was to get rid the region of insurgency.

Abubakar explained that the Air Force had already deployed troops for internal security operations in the troubled Niger Delta region to decimate the criminal activities of the Niger Delta Avengers.

Combating criminal activities
“The Force is dedicated to continue discharging its constitutional responsibilities.

We are not taking any chance in combating the menace of criminal minded activities… The Air Force is repositioned to carry out its mandate of ensuring maximum defence of internal and external aggression,’’ he said.

The Chief of Air Staff spoke in Kano while commissioning the newly constructed officers’ accommodation.

Abubakar maintained that under his stewardship, the Air Force would sustain the vision to repositioning officers and men of the force into a highly professional and disciplined force through capacity building initiatives for effective and timely employment of air power in response to the Nation’s national security imperatives.
