The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno says the State Executive Council has approved a ₦695 billion supplementary budget for 2025, bringing the total budget size to ₦1.65 trillion.
Speaking after presiding over the meeting at Government House, Uyo, Governor Eno explained that the additional allocation would enable the state to realign priorities, address emerging needs, and sustain growth across all 31 Local Government Areas.

He said; “I presided over the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council meeting, where EXCO approved a ₦695 billion Supplementary Budget to be presented to the House of Assembly. This brings the total 2025 budget size to ₦1.65 trillion.”
The Governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Federal Government’s support to the state.
“We deeply appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continuous support to states, which has provided us with the resources to implement life-touching projects for our citizens and deliver on the ARISE Agenda,” he stated.
Governor Eno outlined the focus areas of the supplementary budget, including implementation of the new minimum wage, allowances for corps members, emergency flood and erosion control, and completion of inflation-affected projects.

The budget also covers new road construction, Ibom CNG Mass Transit buses, funding for newly created ministries, the Tree Crop Revolution programme, housing estates, renovation of the House of Assembly, capital investment for new Ibom Air aircraft, and the ARISE Shopping City.
“This strategic budget injection will stimulate our local economy, improve infrastructure, create jobs, and enhance the quality of life across all 31 LGAs of Akwa Ibom State. It represents our firm commitment to a people-first governance, ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every community,” he stressed.
In addition to the budget, the Council declared a State of Emergency on the health sector to accelerate reforms and deliver efficient healthcare services.
Key directives include; upgrading facilities across the state, recruiting 2,000 healthcare workers with VIN requirements waived, engaging retired medical personnel on contract, and strengthening health training institutions. An Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee headed by the Commissioner of Health, Ekem John, was set up to oversee implementation.
The Council further reviewed progress on the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and the Akwa Ibom Geographic Information System (AKWAGIS), fixing October 15, 2025, as the official launch date.
According to the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah: “The TSA will improve Internally Generated Revenue, block leakages, and strengthen fiscal transparency through real-time automation, while AKWAGIS will provide comprehensive land management data, digitised processes, and instant Certificates of Occupancy.”
The Governor charged the Council members to demonstrate greater commitment towards the full realisation of the ARISE Agenda, assuring that the budget would make a tangible impact.
