The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has been commended for his unwavering support of the Nigeria Police Force and his consistent commitment to security and law enforcement.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Governor at Government House, Uyo, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 6, AIG Mohammed Musa Auwal commended the Governor for his impressive support to the State Command of the Force and appealed that the cordial working relationship between the Government and the Police be sustained.
He urged other state governors to adopt Governor Eno’s approach to security in the management of security challenges in their states.
AIG Auwal particularly thanked Governor Eno for upgrading facilities and infrastructure at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, as well as other stations across the State, urging governors of other states to emulate the Akwa Ibom model.
In his remarks, Governor Eno stated that the security and welfare of citizens remain top priorities of his administration.
He commended the selflessness of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in ensuring optimum security, safety, and peace across the state.
“For us as a government, our primary responsibility is the security and welfare of the people, because without security, there cannot be any development. It is, therefore, in this respect that we want to thank the Nigerian Police and other security agencies for their cooperation and unity of purpose amongst them. We thank the State Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, for providing quality leadership among the security agencies in the State,” he stated.
Governor Eno ascribed the milestones recorded in maintaining peace in the State to the support and collaboration of the Police and other security agencies, acknowledging their crucial role in ensuring safety.
He also urged citizens and residents to continue to support the police and other security formations to enable them to deliver effectively on their duties.
He also acknowledged the exemplary strides of AIG Mohammed when he once served in the State and pledged to continue partnering with him to strengthen policing efforts for the safety of the people.
“We must work jointly to ensure the state’s adequate security and safety. Our Command and Control Centre will soon be ready, and we will invite the Inspector General of Police for the commissioning. We will also invite you to flag off the Counter-Terrorism Unit and Barracks in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area,” he said.

The Governor noted that the peaceful nature of Akwa Ibom State “is intentional. And, we owe this to the hard work of the CP and other security agencies.”
He commended the sincerity and prudence of CP Baba Mohammed Azare in managing the support given by the State Government to ensure the continued safety of lives and property.
Governor Eno further appreciated the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and AIG Mohammed Auwal, expressing hope that in the course of their duty tour, Akwa Ibom State would continue to receive priority attention in national security operations.
The State’s ongoing security initiatives align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at strengthening internal security architecture and sustaining peace across Nigeria.
