The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Akwa Ibom State, south-south Nigeria says the commission is prepared for Saturday’s elections and every ad-hoc staff has been allocated Accreditation and tags.
INEC has confirmed that measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth Presidential and National Assembly elections in Akwa Ibom state.
In a chat with Voice of Nigeria Correspondents, The Public Relations Officer, PRO of the Commission, Odaro Aissien said every sensitive material was in place and ready for distribution.
He also stated that the security personnel attached to the commission are on ground to ensure a smooth voting process.
Meanwhile, some indigenes of the state who spoke to Voice of Nigeria, expressed their readiness and anxiety to vote.
The capital city, Uyo is peaceful as most residents have moved close to their polling unit to assure proximity and readiness for the elections.
Akwa Ibom state Indigenes will join other Nigerians in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja to elect a new President and members of the National Assembly on Saturday.
The total number of registered voters for this year’s election is 2,357,418 comprising of 41.8% of female and 51.9 of male voters.
The voting exercise will take place in all 31 local governments with a total of 4,354 pulling units as indicated by INEC.
