Gains persisted on the equities market of the Nigerian Exchange on Tuesday as market indices closed 2.97% higher.
The all-share index inched up by 2.97% to close at 98,616.97 points, being 2,848.85 points higher than Monday’s 95,768.12 points while the market capitalisation also rose by N1.5 billion to close trading at N53.9 trillion as against N52.4 trillion the previous day.
However, for the second consecutive time, the market sentiment ended negative with 17 gainers and 58 losers.
Seplat Petroleum Company led the gainers chart with a 10% gain and a closing price of N2,795.10 and was followed by BUA Cement also with 10% price gain and a closing price of N163.35 and Dangote Cement gained 9.99% to close at N651.80.
On the other hand, PZ Cussons Nigeria lost 10% to close at N31.50k , followed by May & Baker Nigeria with 10% loss and a closing price of N7.38k while John Holt lost 10% to close at N2.70.
Transcorp Nigeria remained the toast of investors as it recorded the highest volume of 77.7 million traded shares, followed by Sterling Bank with 72.3m shares.
At the end of the day’s trading, a total of 747.5 million shares worth N16.3 billion were traded in 16,589 deals on Tuesday.
