Nigeria’s stock market index rose by 0.43% to close at 39,301.82 points on Friday amid sustained bargain hunting activities.
The market capitalization also rose by N82 billion to close at N20.568 trillion compared to N20.486 trillion on Thursday.
The Exchange recorded 32 gainers as against 9 losers at the close of trading on Friday.
Some of the gainers for the day included Stanbic, which gained N4.00 to close at N50.00, then Nigerian Brewery which gained N1.10k to close at N51.20k and Dangote Sugar which gained N0.90k to close at N17.90k.
On the other hand, Union Dicon lost N1.05k to close at N9.90k. Guaranty lost N0.10k to close at N31.20k, while Access Bank lost N0.05k to close at N7.50k.
Out of the five indices tracked, four closed in the positive, except the Oil and Gas index which closed flat.
The banking index rose by 0.52%; the Insurance index rose by 0.57%; Consumer goods index rose by 0.94%, while the Industrial index rose by 0.11%.
Meanwhile, trading activity also picked up as 287.03 million shares worth N3.03 billion were traded in 3,578 deals on Friday.
