Trading activities on Tuesday closed on a positive as all share index appreciated by 0.81% to close at 38,917.99 points being 313.27 points higher than 38,604.72 points recorded at the close of trading on Monday.
Similarly, the market capitalisation of equities also appreciated by N163 billion to close at N20.277 trillion as against N20,114 trillion on Monday.
Tuesday’s trading saw a total of 231,451,362 shares with market value of N2,133 billion traded in 4,651 deals.
WEMA BANK led the gainers table having gained N0.05k or 5.95% to close at N0.89k per share. UPDC followed closely with N0.07k or 5.93% gain to close at N1.25k, then AIRTELAFRI gained N35.00k or 5.69% to close at N650.00k
On the other hand, FTNCOCOA led the losers list after it lost N0.04k or 8.16% to close at 0.45k ,followed by HONYFLOUR which lost 0.13k or 7.78% to close at 1.54k and MUTUAL BENEFIT lost N0.02k or 5.13% to close at N0.37k
TRANSCORP was the most traded for the day as it had the biggest volumes of traded shares of 17,477 million shares worth N16.559 billion followed by JAIZBANK with 16,583 million shares worth N10,235 billion.
Most of the indices performance was negative as four out of the five sub-sectors tracked closely in red. The banking index lost 0.82%, the oil and gas index fell by 0.24%, the Consumer good index also fell by 0.26% and the Insurance index fell by 0.97% while the Industrial index closed flat at 0.00%.
