All Share Index Rises By 0.81% To Sustain Gains

The Nigerian equities market recorded another day of gain on Thursday making it the fourth consecutive day this week as the all-share index appreciated by 0.81% to close at 46,604.94 points, being 372.57 points higher than Wednesday’s 46,232.37.

 

Similarly, the market capitalisation rose by N203 billion to close at N25,384 trillion naira compared to N25,181 trillion on Wednesday.

 

The market sentiment however closed negative with 16 gainers relative to 23 losers.

 

The day’s trading saw a total of 138.6 million shares valued at N2.17 billion traded in 3,434 deals.

 

Ecobank Transnational led the gainers with 6.5% gain to close at N10.65k per share followed by Airtel Africa with 6.3% gain and a closing price of N1,350 and BUA Foods with 6.11% gain to close at N63.40k per share.

 

On the other hand, Nestle Nigeria led the losers’s chart with a loss of 10% to close at N1,071.00k.After it was Red Star Express which also lost 10% to close at N2.07k ,followed by Computer Warehouse Group with 9.09% loss and a closing price of N0.80k.

 

Sterling Bank had the highest volume of traded shares at 24.2 million shares and was followed by Transcorp Nigeria with 21.8 million shares.
