Alleged assault: Absence Of Magistrate Halts Trial Of Afrobeat Singer

The Absence of Chief Magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun stopped the trial of popular Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti.

The proceeding, which was slated for Monday, July 3, at the Yaba Magistrate’s court, was adjourned as a result of the Magistrate’s absence.

Olatunbosun was said to have resumed her administrative leave and was thus absent in court.

Following the absence of the Magistrate, the registrar, Babalola, adjourned the case till September 27, 2023, for the continuation of the proceeding.

Reports said that the singer is charged with allegedly assaulting a police officer on May 13 on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos State.

He was arraigned by the State Police Command on May 16, 2023.
