The Executive Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council AMAC, Abdullahi Candido has encouraged Candidates of all political parties to adopt politics devoid of bitterness irrespective of political affiliation.
Candido also urged them to let their goal focus on developing AMAC for the common benefits of the residents, as 2022 Area councils election draws near.
He made this known during the familiarisation meeting of all the candidates of the various political parties in the forthcoming AMAC election, saying politics of inclusiveness, irrespective of political parties, religion or ethnicity serve better and yield results which is evident in the present administration.
“I’m sure from all segment of our political space if we have better politics, better political manager, then we will have good governance that will affect all Nigerians positively.
”The fact that you are competing with me shouldn’t make us enemy, there’s no reason for that, this is exactly why we felt bringing all candidates that wish to take over from me in 2022 together for us to know ourselves, and let them see what the council has been able to do, what value they will be able to add to what we have done,” the Chairman explained.
He therefore maintained that the over all objectives at the end of the day, would be a better AMAC as a council, there should be no reason to fight because the leadership is not given by anyone but it’s God who crown kings and so anyone who wins represent the interest of AMAC and must be supported.
Candido said; ”AMAC is an all inclusive council where the indigene and non-indigene see themselves as one this is my concepts, the more united we are, the better for us. By January the transition Committee will engage whoever that wins the election but before the election the transition Committee will also engage all the candidates.
“It’s important to note that this administration has achieved one or more things, the importance of government is to add more value, we believe that government is for the people so whatever I’m able to do for the last 6years not all may likely be good but not everything can be discarded you might wish to add so what we have been able to do, the transition Committee will show up.
”When we came in, we have been innovative in nature, we created certain institutions that we felt are working for the people but there’s nothing wrong in discarding what the previous administration have achieved so we felt instead of discarding them, you can add value and improve on them.’
The following Candidates contesting the election were in attendance; Abe Fisayo Makaykola – AAC, Danya Musa – AA, Suleiman Gwangari -APC, Mina Horsfall NRM, Michael Odoh -YPP and Zamani David – ADC.
Responding, the Candidate, African Action Congress (AAC) Abe Fisayo Makaykola commended Candido for his openness and selflessness, saying if everyone continue like this, Nigeria will be a good society.
He promised to emulate him and ensure that all the legacies he has built would be consolidated upon if he becomes his successor.
