AMGA Games: Team Nigeria Claims Gold, Silver Medals

The Nigerian Armed Forces team so far has won two gold medals and one silver at the ongoing 2024 Africa Military Games (AMGA), holding at the indoor hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, Nigeria.

Team Nigerian claimed two golds in the handball competition for both men and women’s category, while Ghana settled for silver.

Only two teams (Nigeria and Ghana) featured in the event, with the Nigeria male team beating Ghana 28-18.

In the men’s 87kg Greco-Roman Wrestling, Nigeria also won a silver medal event which had four fighters registered to compete with a round-robin format.  Tochukwu Okeke secured silver medal after defeating his Tunisia’s opponent Sobri Mmosria 7-5 in the final game of the event.

Nigeria men’s football third place match against Equatorial Guinea may hand Nigeria another silver medal after 1-0 loss to Cameroon. Equatorial Guinea defeated to Algeria 2-0 in the semi-final encounter.
