A vibrant ceremony marked the official swearing-in of 1,200 prospective corps members at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp in Umuawulu/Awka South LGA of Anambra State on Friday, kicking off the 2024 Batch C Stream 1 Orientation exercise.
The Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, administered the oath of allegiance while the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Engr. Martin Agbili, represented the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, at the event.
Governor Soludo commended the Corps Members for their commitment to serving their nation and highlighted the state’s dedication to youth development. He encouraged them to take advantage of various empowerment initiatives, such as the “1 Youth 2 Skills” program and the Solution Innovation District (SID) for digital skills and talent development.
The Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, Hon. Patrick Aghamba, represented by Mrs. Chito Osini, advised the Corps Members to participate actively in camp activities and emphasised the importance of paying attention to the Igbo lecture series to enhance communication with the host community.
State Coordinator Mrs. Blessing Iruma stressed the significance of discipline and engagement in camp activities, urging the Corps Members to make the most of their NYSC experience and positively contribute to their host communities.
The ceremony concluded with martial arts displays and photos capturing the memorable event.
