Anambra 2021: Accord Party candidate pledges affordable health care

The Accord party gubernatorial candidate for the November 6th Anambra State election, Dr Godwin Maduka has pledged to introduce a comprehensive health insurance scheme for the people if elected into office.
Addressing over 300 defectors from other parties in Anaocha Council Area on a solidarity visit to him, he assured them that once he emerges as the next governor of the state, their sufferings would be over.
He said as a medical doctor he understood their agonies and challenges accessing affordable medicare, noting that health insurance was critical to healthy living and an avenue for poverty reduction.
While commending them for taking the bold decision of joining his campaign train, he said if elected into office hospitals and other health facilities across the state would be refurbished for effective service delivery.
Dr Maduka challenged his opponents to showcase what they had done with their wealth for the people of the state, pointed out that over the years he had used his wealth and connections to touch the lives of the people as well as infrastructural ventures.
He then urged his supporters to remain steadfast and committed to the struggle as the election must be contested and won through the ballot and not by any other means.
The Leader of the decampees and former Secretary of PDP in Anaocha Council Area, Hon Adolphus Ezeora, said they decided to join his campaign team because of his kind-heartedness in appointing one of them, Hon Macjoe Onwudinjo, his Director of Operations.
He added that they were in full support of his political aspiration to turn around the fortunes of the state, stating that they would continue to work and pray for the success of the candidate.
INEC preparedness
A Chieftain of the Party, Mr Macjoe Onwudinjo, used the forum to commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the positive steps taken in preparation for the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.
Mr Onwudinjo described the guidelines and other programmes already undertaken by the electoral body for the successful conduct of the poll as satisfactory.
Transmission of results
Mr Onwudinjo said the ongoing debate as to whether or not to adopt either the manual or electronic transmission of results should be handled with the utmost consideration.
