Ahead of the November 6th Gubernatorial election, African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Action Democratic Party (ADP) have elected their standard bearers through the parties internal democratic process.
While ADC settled for Chief Akachukwu Sullivan Nwankpo, formerly of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, the ADC presented its flag to Prince Afam Ume Ezeoke for the contest.
Chief Nwankpo, emerges candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) unopposed through vioce votes.
The ADC Primary election held at Professor Dora Akuyili Women Development Centre Awka,opted for voice votes from the delegates across the state to midwife the emergence of its sole candidate.
The National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu appealed for a free, fair, credible and transperant election by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).
The gubernatorial candidate, Chief Nwankpo, in his acceptance speech, promised to run an all inclusive government, if given the opportunity to govern the state.
He described ADC as the only political party in Nigeria, founded on foundation of truth and honesty needed to effect positive changes in the nation’s scheme of things.
The ADP candidate, Price Afam Ume-Ezeoke, who emerged through votes by delegates drawn from the 21 Local Government Areas of the state pledged not to disappoint the people if elected into office.
While urging party members to remain committed, he noted that the time has come to mobilise people and work hard for the success of the party during the poll.
The State Chairman of the party, Comrade Mathias Ameke, said the party has the capacity to win the election and turn around the narratives of the state.
