The Governors of Abia- Okezie Ikpeazu, Delta – Ifeanyi Okowa and Oyo State – Seyi Makinde and a host of dignitaries have stormed the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s, PDP grand rally, to end all governorship campaigns in the state.
The grand rally was to wrap up campaigns ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Awka, the capital of Anambra State.
Ikpeazu who is the Chairman of Valentine Ozigbo national campaign Council led other governors to canvas for votes in Anambra, to vote Ozigbo, stating that they would work to ensure he emerges governor.
Ikpeazu extolled Anambra people as he pointed out that the state needed his party for the people to take their rightful place in the scheme of things.
Take back Nigeria
Governor of Delta State Ifeanyi Okowa said the leaders who emerged from the recently conducted national convention of PDP was a clear indication that the party was set to take back Nigeria.
Okowa urged the people of Anambra to be courageous and take back what belonged to them.
For Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, Saturday’s election was a choice for the best.
The front seat
He said that for Anambra this is the time to come together for the youths to take the front seat to elect their governor.
The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, Senator Ndi Obi, Senator Uche Ekwunife, Prof. ABC Nwosu who also attended the event said the party would win the election.
Obi in his address said: “We urge the voters to take back their state because it has collapsed. The state has remained where I left it such as roads and other amenities for eight years now, and infrastructures have grossly dilapidated, while the state owes more than N120billion in debts against the over N70billion I left.
“The television debate in which Ozigbo and two others participated on Monday showed clearly that Ozigbo is ahead of others and should be given a chance to uplift the state” Obi said.
They all pledged to support the candidate to ensure the liberation of the people of Anambra State.
Ozigbo who was presented with the flag of the party pledged to implement his manifesto if elected into office.
“The rate at which supporters of other political parties are decamping to PDP is a sign of what to come.
He added that everyone in the state was angry and wants something new as he promised to give Anambra a new life if he becomes the governor.
