Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State in Southeast Nigeria, has officially launched his campaign for a second term.
The inauguration of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) campaign council in the state capital, Awka, was staged as a display of party unity, attended by senior officials and legislative allies.
Governor Soludo, a former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, framed his candidacy as essential for the state’s continued development. “It is not about me as an individual but Anambra and the people of Anambra,” he stated.
He insisted that the Anambra South senatorial zone, which he represents, must complete its stipulated eight-year tenure before power rotates to another zone.
He stressed that grassroots mobilisation was indispensable for victory.

The event featured endorsements from party leadership.
APGA National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, expressed supreme confidence, describing the election as a “walkover” and claiming “the people of Anambra have already endorsed Governor Soludo’s candidacy.”
The campaign also received a significant boost from the prominent Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
It’s National Secretary, Emeka Sibudu, stated that the group supports effective Igbo governors irrespective of party.
“Governor Soludo is doing exceptionally well… It is evident he is performing,” Sibudu said.
His campaign council is now tasked with mobilising support across the 21 local government areas in Anambra State.
