Labour Party, LP governorship candidate for the November 8, 2025, election in Anambra State, Dr. George Moghalu, has pledged to make security his top priority.

He vowed to end the persistent killings, kidnappings, and other security threats plaguing the state.

Speaking at a town hall meeting in Umueri with key stakeholders from the Omambala region, including traditional rulers, elder statesmen, business leaders, clergy, and political figures, Moghalu laid out a detailed security blueprint aimed at restoring peace and public trust.

“My administration will adopt cutting-edge security measures, including real-time radio communication vehicles, long-range CCTV surveillance, and increased deployment of walkie-talkies,” Moghalu said. “We will also ensure adequate remuneration and training for vigilante operatives and make security jobs attractive to university graduates.”

The LP flagbearer emphasised his commitment to running a transparent, accountable, and people-centered government.

He assured the gathering that he would serve only one term if elected, to support the ongoing zoning and rotational power agreement in the state.

“Governance must be inclusive and just. By serving only one tenure, I will pave the way for a peaceful continuation of the zoning arrangement across Anambra’s senatorial districts,” he stated.

On development, Moghalu pledged to improve education, healthcare delivery, and infrastructure across the Omambala axis, which comprises six local government areas: Anambra East, Anambra West, Oyi, Ayamelum, Awka North, and Dunukofia.

Turning to agriculture and food security, the candidate expressed a strong commitment to transforming Omambala into Anambra’s agricultural powerhouse.

“Omambala has the capacity to feed the entire state. I will provide the security and inputs necessary to drive mechanized, commercial-scale farming. Our goal is for food produced in Omambala to be readily available in major markets like Eke Awka and Nkwo Nnewi,” he said.

His presentation drew positive responses from local leaders. Dr. Chike Obidigbo, President of the Omambala Union and elder statesman, praised Moghalu’s security-first approach and his one-term pledge.

“George, you are a friend and a visionary. Your support for zoning ensures political stability and equity,” Dr. Obidigbo noted.

Other dignitaries, including Retired Justice Obidigwe, HRM Igwe Dr. Benjamin Okeji (Zonal Chairman of Anambra North Traditional Rulers Council), and HRM Igwe Ben Emeka of Umueri, encouraged Moghalu to continue engaging communities across the state.

“Leadership comes from God. Keep sharing your plans with the people, and trust the process. If it is your time, nothing can stop you,” Okeji added.
