Anambra Governor To Conduct Local Government Elections

The Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Somtochukwu Udeze, congratulated the newly confirmed chairmen and charged them to remain focused as so many Anambrarians were counting on them to deliver.

“There is every need that all of you should focus. And being focused is for you to carry along all the councillors, community leaders, most especially traditional institutions.

“I want to give credit to the selection process, which the stakeholders, community leaders, church leaders were involved. Actually, when that process started, a lot of people came to criticize it but to us and to me, it is a wonderful process.

Try to engage everybody as the growth of the people within the local government are your hands now. Please don’t disappoint us.

“For us to pass through these various processes to get to this point, I think there is need for all of you to have the mindset that Anambra needs to make that change which governor Soludo believes in and I will ensure that if you don’t live up to expectations, this honourable house through the oversight function, will do the needful.

“We are here to represent and speak for those people from our areas who voted us in. There should be a cordial relationship so that Anambra people will get the maximum of what they expected from us.

“Remain focused because there is a lot of milestone you need to cover and there are some pitfalls that are waiting for you to fall into and if you are not mindful, those pitfalls will hinder whatever will be your achievements,” the speaker said.

In a vote of thanks on behalf of the new Transition Chairmen, the Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata Local Government Area, Dr. Oforbuike said that they are prepared to work and thanked Governor Soludo for giving them the opportunity to serve the people of Anambra. He promised not to disappoint the people and government.

The Anyamelum TC Chairman, Mr. Alphonsus Ofumele, equally highlighted his strategies to boost the local economy of his local government.

The Onitsha North TC Chairman, Mr. Tony Nweze Nwora, expressed his gratitude to Governor Soludo for finding him worthy to serve the people of Onitsha North. He said “The governor’s blueprint is our blueprint. We are the governor’s ambassadors in our different local government areas and I work hard to ensure that the job and vision of Soludo is felt in my locality.

Going forward, I will diligently serve and carry my people along.”
