Anambra Commissioner Advocates for Training, Profiling of Vigilante Operatives

Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, recently visited the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, to discuss ways to enhance security in the state, particularly through the adequate training and profiling of vigilante operatives.

During the meeting, Mefor emphasised the importance of proper training and profiling of vigilante personnel by the police to improve information flow and enhance their overall effectiveness in maintaining security.

Dr. Mefor commended the efforts of the police in combating crime but expressed concern about the need for better profiling of vigilante operatives in the state.

 

He highlighted the asymmetric nature of security challenges in Anambra State, emphasisng the importance of knowing the background and capabilities of vigilante personnel.

 

Restructure operations
CP Nnaghe Obono Itam welcomed the Commissioner’s suggestions and pledged to restructure operations related to vigilante activities and other security initiatives in the state.

 

He also announced plans to launch a radio program called ‘Ask the Police,’ in collaboration with the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), to improve communication and engagement with the public on security issues.

The visit and discussions between Dr. Mefor and CP Itam underscore the commitment of both the government and the police to enhancing security in Anambra State through improved training and collaboration with vigilante security operatives.
