Anambra State’s Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, has praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to youth empowerment through the establishment of the 1Youth 2Skills TV and the Youth TV Studio, located within the Ministry of Youth Development Complex behind Government House in Awka, the state capital.

Mefor said, “This initiative, part of the 2024 Action Plan, aims to serve as a platform for information dissemination, youth engagement, and skills training.

During his visit to the TV studio, Dr. Mefor commended the leadership of the Ministry of Youth Development, under Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, for effectively implementing Governor Soludo’s vision to enhance the youth development agenda of the Solution Administration.

He emphasized that this initiative embodies the governor’s philosophy of creating “jobs, and quality jobs” rather than relying on palliative measures.

“Governor Soludo believes in empowering citizens by teaching them how to fish rather than simply handing them fish,” Dr. Mefor stated.

He stressed the importance of equipping unemployed youths with skills and start-up capital that could lead to sustainable livelihoods.

The enterprise has garnered national attention, with the federal government also adopting similar strategies.

Dr. Mefor also lauded the 1Youth 2Skills TV Production Crew for their professional service delivery and pledged ongoing support from the Ministry of Information to promote this initiative, especially at the grassroots level.

He encouraged town unions across the state to emulate the Obosi community, which has launched its own project titled “1Family, 2Skills” in alignment with the governor’s broader youth empowerment strategy.

As Anambra State continues to innovate in addressing unemployment and skills development, the 1Youth 2Skills initiative stands out as a beacon of hope for the younger population, fostering a culture of self-reliance and sustainable growth,” Dr Mefor added.
