The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, has declared Prof. Charles Soludo of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) the overall winner of the 2021 Anambra gubernatorial election.
Finally at about 1:50am on Wednesday, the Chief Returning Officer, Prof Florence Obi the Vice Chancellor of University of Calabar declared the flag bearer of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as the winner of the just concluded Anambra 2021 Gubernatorial election.
“This is the moment we have been waiting for. I want to use this opportunity to thank the chairman of INEC and his team for this opportunity given to me and my university to partake in this Anambra 2021. I thank the service chiefs, the people of Anambra State, we remain very grateful.
“Allow me to read this form EC8E, which I have completed. I Prof Florence Banku Obi hereby certify that I’m the returning officer of the Anambra governorship election held on 6 and 9 of November.
“That Charles Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, having certified the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner of the election,” Prof. Obi said.
Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the flag bearer of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) came first with a landslide majority with 112,229 votes, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)Flag bearer came a distant second with 53, 807 votes while Andy Uba the Flag bearer for All Progressive Congress (APC) trailed behind with 43, 285 votes among other 18 parties that part participated.
However, it will be recalled that the election was declared inconclusive by the Chief returning officer, Florence Obi on Sunday November 7 at the collation Center in Anambra INEC headquarters Awka due to no election recorded in Ihiala LGA and a supplementary election was called for on Tuesday November 9.
