The wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo has inducted two hundred teachers from the six education zones in the state into her school club, “Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo.”

The programme, an initiative of Mrs Soludo, aimed to set up Healthy Living Clubs in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the state, will serve as formative grounds for education and exposure of school children, teenagers and youths to the basics of healthy living and how to incorporate them in their daily lives.

While inducting the teachers who will serve as club ambassadors, Mrs Soludo said her Healthy Living Club is a product of deep passion focused to guide the students on the routines for a healthy and happy life and build an army of healthy living enthusiasts. She charged club members and the teacher ambassadors to ensure that every club member represents the brand in character, appearance and understanding.

Today is significant. It marks the beginning of a collective dream driven by immense passion. I thank you all for volunteering to be part of this great movement, and I look forward to the success that awaits ahead of us.

“Today, you are taking up a responsibility to self and humanity. This is one call worthy of true dedication, passion and enthusiasm. You have been selected for this noble task because you bear a mark of hard work. Now is the time to go even further.

”My dear Ambassadors, we are entrusting you with faith. You have been called up for something historical. A brand that you must carry with pride. I urge you to take up this duty with commitment. Your job is both demanding and exceptional.

“You are a major part of what we wish to achieve. As a Teacher Ambassador, your responsibility is to groom our students in line with the standards that we have set. We expect to have frequent reports of the club’s activities in your designated schools.

“The reports will help us to monitor your successes, and understand your needs and direction. Our club activities have been streamlined to be very effective. The club manual should be a daily reference for you and club members. Club rules are sacrosanct. You must ensure that every club member represents our brand of excellence. “

Anambra state Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike in his speech, stated that the position as an ambassador comes with massive expectations. He encouraged them to show commitment and also see themselves as progressive partners. He also urged Anambrarians to align with her vision to create a sustainable healthy living environment.

The State Coordinator Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, Mrs Ezenwanne Oti in her address called on the ambassadors to justify their inclusion. She assured them of the support of the wife of the governor, urging them to hit the ground running.

She reminded the teacher ambassadors that they have been called for something historical and must carry the brand with utmost diligence. She urged them to take up their duty with commitment while calling on them to groom the students in line with the standards that have been set.

Mrs Oti, while reeling out guidelines and vision of the club, urged the teacher ambassadors and students to be alive to their responsibilities to meet up with the expectations of the club.

In a vote of thanks, a teacher ambassador, Mr Ugochukwu Anyafulu and a student, Miss Chinemerem Ofoleta, appreciated Mrs Soludo for the initiative.

The event which took place on Tuesday, in Awka, the state capital and was capped with a walk on war against drug abuse, featured the flag-off of the first phase of the ‘Introduction of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo’ as a valid club in two hundred secondary schools in Anambra State.
