The Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has called on parents, caregivers, school administrators, religious leaders, and community stakeholders to throw their full support behind the ongoing National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs) campaign aimed at protecting children under the age of five from life-threatening diseases.

Her appeal came as the Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA), in partnership with the State Ministry of Health and other development partners, officially flagged off the second round of the 2025 NIPDs across the state.

In a statement issued in Awka, Dr Soludo underscored the significance of community-wide participation, stressing that the five-day campaign would take place at all 326 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state.

“This critical public health initiative offers parents and caregivers a valuable opportunity to protect their children against vaccine-preventable diseases,” she stated.

“Immunisation remains one of the most effective tools to safeguard children’s health and reduce childhood mortality. The vaccines are safe, trusted, and highly effective in preventing diseases such as polio, measles, and other common childhood illnesses.”

Dr Soludo encouraged families and community leaders to mobilise all eligible children to take advantage of the free vaccination services during the campaign window.

“Your support and cooperation are essential to the success of this vaccination drive. This campaign reflects our collective commitment to improving child health outcomes in Anambra State.

Let us join hands to protect our children and secure a healthier future for our communities,” she said.

The NIPDs is a national initiative designed to bolster routine immunisation coverage and prevent a resurgence of vaccine-preventable diseases.

As part of the effort, health workers will also carry out outreach services in hard-to-reach and underserved communities.

Dr Soludo concluded by expressing gratitude to the public for their continued commitment to child health, adding that she remained optimistic that Anambra State would serve as a model of success in immunisation outcomes.
