Anambra goes to poll

The people of Anambra State are set to visit various polling units to cast their votes for their preferred candidate.

There are  a total of 18 candidates who want to succeed the outgoing Governor, Willie Obiano.

Some of the candidates contesting to succeed Governor Willie Obiano  are, Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives grand Alliance, APGA, Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress APC, Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Ifeanyi Uba of the Young Progressive Party YPP and Ben Etiaba of the Action Alliance.

Like in other States, there are three senatorial districts in Anambra and 21 Local Government areas.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission,  INEC, ” Anambra North Senatorial District, there will be 1,820 polling units to cater for 846,994 registered voters.”

In Anambra Central Senatorial district, there will be 3,987 polling units to cater for 887,295 registered voters.

In Anambra South Senatorial district, there will be 1,934 polling units to cater for 794,203 voters.

In total, there are 2.52 million registered voters in Anambra to decide the fate of these candidates.

Meanwhile, INEC has reiterated that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used for the Anambra State governorship election.

Security operatives are fully on ground to ensure peaceful and smooth conduct of the election.
